SOME RAF PATCHES
   all aircraft are to scale

I do not collect RAF patches (except for the tiger ones) but I have some special interest in these :

I grew up near Soest in Germany where the Möhne Dam was one of the targets of No. 617 Bombardment Sqn.  It is even that same dam that is shown on the Sqn. crest.

When we came back to Belgium we lived in Achel.  In the night of 21 to 22 June 1943 Short Stirling EF-366 of  No. 7 Bomber Sqn. RAF was shot down by a German night-fighter and crashed in Achel.

A large part of my adult life I spent in nearby Neerpelt where 2 RAF aircraft came down.  The first was Lancaster ED-629 of No. 12 Bomber Sqn., shot down in the night of 16 to 17 June 1943 by Werner Baake.

And on 17 September 1944 Mustang FZ-125 of No. LXV Sqn. RAF crashed after being hit by flak over Arnhem during Operation Market-Garden.

Currently I spent most of my days in Bergeijk in The Netherlands.  In the night of 22 to 23 June 1943 Wellington HZ-250 of No. 429 Sqn. RCAF crashed near the village.  This bomber was also shot down by Werner Baake.
